I once was lost but now am found – Luke 15:32

If anyone asks me “what is the most significant change in my life?”, then I say without any hesitation “it is when I get to know God and the Lord Jesus Christ”.

If they then ask me “how can you describe it in one sentence?”, then I say “Jesus saves my life”

By 2005, I was 33 and my life had been a series of trying working hard to get certain things. Growing up in Vietnam, I tried hard to get a bachelor scholarship to Russia (thinking I will have a better life and future). Living in Russia at the time was hard. I then tried hard to get a scholarship to Melbourne university, then get a job and bring my family to Australia in 2001 (thinking my family will have a better life and future). Settling in a new country was very challenging. I bought my first home in 2005 in Wheelers Hill and was mentally exhausted. My main question at the time was: I have been trying so hard to get where I am now but what next? How hard will it be? Why does it have to be so hard?

By some chance, I came to Wheelers Hill Uniting Church door in late 2005 and with the great support and care of the church people, not only I found the answer to my question, I learned so many new things and unlearned the old things. Just to name a few

  • Try giving instead of getting
  • Appreciate challenges as opportunities to improve myself
  • Following my heart instead of what others say

I can write a book about all of the above but it would be far greater to get to know you and share it with you in person. If you are finding yourself in a similar situation like me in 2005 and reading this, please take it as a chance like I did in 2005.

Thank you for reading and looking forward to welcoming you at the Wheelers Hill Uniting Church.

Thank you Jesus again for saving me and giving me peace
